About The Hansen Collection
The Hansen Collection is dedicated to representing the art of Harry Hansen, Dee Hansen, and Susan Hansen Staves. Our mission is to preserve Harry’s artistic legacy while sharing our artwork and the creative journeys that have shaped each of us. Central to that mission is The Immutable Passion Project (TIPP), our outreach initiative that shares our family’s dementia journey to foster understanding, connection, and the transformative power of art.
Our traveling exhibition: Drawing on Memory – Works by Harry Hansen, strives to bring art and creative expression to the broader community . The exhibition, educational programming and community conversations explore ideas of personhood, identity and creativity in the context of dementia care.
Creativity Runs in the Family – Other Notable Hansens
Creativity extends throughout our family as well. Our son and brother, Danny Hansen, his wife, Sherry, and their children have owned and operated The Crafty Celts in Batesburg, South Carolina, for more than 30 years, creating handcrafted Celtic jewelry inspired by centuries of tradition. The Immutable Passion Project
Through exhibitions, presentations, and collaborative programming, TIPP explores the enduring role of individualized interests and creative identity in the lives of people living with dementia. Inspired by the artistic life of Harry Hansen, the project examines how deeply rooted interests, skills, and forms of self-expression can remain present even through significant cognitive decline. This outreach aims to inspire and encourage families and caregivers to cultivate approaches to care that honor personal interests as essential to sustaining identity and personhood.
